The evangelical department office of Christ Apostolic Church is traditionally designated for prophets and evangelists. The individual in this role leads the church’s evangelical efforts, serving as the chief prophet and evangelist. All church evangelists report to him. He organizes crusades and all other evangelical outreaches of the church, oversees other prophets and evangelists, and authorizes permits for evangelists to minister in any church assemblies.

The first general evangelist of the church was Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, who had been functioning as a prophet/evangelist since joining the Faith Tabernacle Group in 1928. He officially became the general evangelist when the church was incorporated in 1943 and held the office until his death in 1959. Prophet David Olulana Babajide, Babalola’s right-hand man, succeeded him in 1959 and served until his retirement in 1991. In 1993, Evangelist Jacob Oluwatuberu Alokan took over and retired in 2015. He was succeeded by Prophet Samuel Kayode Abiara in December 2006, who retired in 2017 at the age of 75. The current general evangelist, Prophet Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji, assumed office in January 2018.
